Mark Fitterer, resident of Prior Lake, MN and professional truck driver for UNFI, Inc., took first place in the Twin Trailer Class and was named overall Grand Champion at the Minnesota Trucking Association Truck Driving Championships on June 10th. He now has the opportunity to compete at the National Truck Driving Championships, August 21-24 in Indianapolis, IN.
The Minnesota Truck Driving Championships is a one-day competition featuring over 60 of the state’s top drivers who had to navigate a six-problem obstacle course, complete a written knowledge test and perform a pre-trip inspection where they had to correctly identify safety defects planted on a tractor-trailer.
The driver with the most points in each of the nine classes took home the first-place prize along with the opportunity to compete at the National Truck Driving Championships. They will compete against more than 400 other drivers from across the country in a skills test, pre-trip inspection, and a written exam.
