Canada's COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement Expires

Effective October 1, 2022, all travelers, regardless of citizenship, no longer will be required to do any of the following health measures:

 

  • submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website;

  • provide proof of vaccination;

  • undergo pre- or on-arrival testing;

  • carry out COVID-19-related quarantine or isolation;

  • monitor and report if they develop signs or symptoms of COVID-19 upon arriving to Canada.

To date, there has been no announcement from the U.S. that the federal government will be making any similar changes to the current COVID-19 vaccine requirements for foreign nationals entering the country. The current requirements for land ports of entry from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are available HERE

FMSA Announces COVID Modification Waivers Through October 15, 2022
 

FMCSA announced it is extending its COVID-19 emergency declaration for an additional 90 days, until October 15, 2022. The declaration gives regulatory relief to truck drivers providing direct assistance with the delivery of emergency supplies.


The current waiver is limited to the following loads:

  • Livestock and livestock feed.

  • Medical supplies and equipment related to the testing, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.

  • Vaccines, constituent products, and medical supplies and equipment, including ancillary supplies/kits for the administration of vaccines, related to the prevention of COVID-19.

  • Supplies and equipment necessary for community safety, sanitation, and prevention of community transmission of COVID-19, such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, soap and disinfectants.

  • Food, paper products and other groceries for emergency restocking of distribution centers or stores.

  • Gasoline, diesel, diesel exhaust fluid, jet fuel, ethyl alcohol and heating fuel, including propane, natural gas and heating oil.


FMCSA also extended a three-month waiver from certain regulations applicable to commercial learner’s permit holders operating commercial motor vehicles.
